Overview

Jeffrey Cummings, MD, ScD, is the Joy Chambers-Grundy Professor of Brain Sciences and Director of the Chambers-Grundy Center for Transformative Neuroscience and Co-Director of the Pam Quirk Brain Health and Biomarker Laboratory in the Department of Brain Health at the School of Integrated Health Sciences, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

He trained in neurology and behavioral neurology at Boston University, and in neuropsychiatry and neuropathology at the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases, Queen Square, London.

A world-renowned neurologist recognized for his contributions to research, drug development, and clinical trials in Alzheimer’s disease, he directs the Clinical Trials Observatory (at UNLV), which studies all drugs currently in clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease to better inform drug development decisions.

Before joining UNLV, he directed and founded the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and was Director of the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer’s Disease Research (UCLA).

He has received numerous awards throughout his career:

The Henderson Award from the American Geriatrics Society,

The Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry,

The Leadership and Achievement Award from the International Society of CNS Drug Development,

The Bengt Winblad Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Alzheimer’s Association,

The Distinguished Service Award from the International Psychogeriatric Association

The Melvin R. Goodes Award from the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation.
